From Lyon it was an easy five hour train trip down to Nice, where I found a Youth Hostel called Villa Saint-Exupery, an old Carmelite monastery up on a hill overlooking the city. The view from my window was amazing.
I did the usual tourist walk along the beach front, marvelling at the beautiful sea vista but not the stony shore.
I also did a day trip to Monte Carlo and saw the changing of the guard at the Pink Palace.
